Password-Protected Areas of the DMBA Website

As part of the registration process, users will provide the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association with an email address, and will select a password. All information that users provide to the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association to register must be accurate. Registration allows users to register for seminars, purchase books and products, check the status of those orders, and update their profile. Members agree to update such information as it changes. Members may not (i) select or use the ID of another person with the intent to impersonate that person; or (ii) use an ID in which another person has rights without such person's authorization. Failure to comply with the foregoing is a breach of this Agreement and will result in immediate termination of the member's registration. Members are responsible for all usage of member's ID, including use of the ID by any third party authorized by the member to use the member's ID and password. Any fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise illegal activity is grounds for immediate termination of the member's registration.

Members and registered users

Members and registered users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their password. The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association will not intentionally share a member or registered user's password with any third party (it will email a user the user's password upon request, but only to the user's pre-identified email address. Members and registered users are responsible for keeping that email address secure and up-to-date. Registered users and members agree to notify Customer Service of any known or suspected unauthorized use(s) of the user's ID, or any known or suspected breach of security, including loss, theft, or unauthorized disclosure of the user's password.

The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association has created this statement to demonstrate our firm commitment to the privacy of our users. It discloses information gathering and dissemination practices for DetroitLawyer.org the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association 's official Internet site. Member Profile Information

We ask users to provide contact information (i.e., email address, phone number, contact person), unique identifiers (i.e., State Bar membership number, password). Customer information is used to: Create a member directory profile, maintain personal registration information, register for events and programs, process and send order(s); and to contact members when necessary. In some instances biographical profiles will be featured on the website home page.

If you are a member of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, this information will be made available to other DMBA members unless you specifically request that it be available only to DMBA Administration in your personal profile update.

Online Registration Forms

Information supplied via online order forms and registration forms is used only by the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association. It is not sold or provided to vendors, direct mail concerns, email list services, etc.

Online Forum

The DMBA On-line member Forum is a voluntary topic-streaming forum that allows DMBA members to discuss various topics of interest to the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association. The DMBA does not regularly monitor the content of the forum, and is not responsible for the content or the privacy of those participating in the forum.  Participants do so voluntarily and at their own risk and discretion.  However, the DMBA reserves the absolute right to remove any material contained within the member forum at its sole discretion without explanation, comment or permission.
